What a junior tennis season in Europe actually costs
Stakhovsky Tennis publishes this transparent season-cost model so families can compare coaching, competition, travel and recovery as one plan. The ranges are planning scenarios, not quotes or guarantees for an individual player.
Almost every published figure for the cost of competitive junior tennis is American, and most of it is anecdotal. This is a European model, built from published entry fees, real Prague coaching rates and stated travel assumptions. Every input is either linked to its source or written down as an assumption you can replace with your own.
Short answer: a regional season runs roughly 4,300-7,900 EUR, a first ITF campaign roughly 8,100-14,000 EUR, and a full ITF campaign roughly 14,000-29,000 EUR a year. The workings are below, and you are welcome to disagree with them in public.
Three season shapes, costed
Junior tennis has no single price because it has no single shape. These are the three shapes most families actually run. Pick the one nearest yours; the components are listed so you can swap any line for your own number.
Regional season
A 12-to-14-year-old playing national and Tennis Europe events reachable by car, training year-round from a home base.

A 15-to-16-year-old adding six to eight ITF J30/J60 events to a domestic calendar, still driving to most of them.

A 16-to-18-year-old chasing a ranking across 15-20 ITF events, several requiring flights and a travelling adult.

Budget for travel as well as coaching
Travel and accommodation are major costs, especially for an international season. They are not the largest cost in every example above. Coaching has the higher estimated range in the regional and entry-level scenarios; travel has the higher range in the full ITF scenario. Compare your planned events, travel costs and coaching quote together before choosing a training base.
It also explains why the American figures are so much higher. A junior competing across the United States absorbs domestic flights that a European junior can often replace with a four-hour drive. The published US range of USD 10,000-40,000 a year is not a different sport; it is the same sport with a different map.
Do not infer a break-even point between a residential academy and a home-base plan from these scenarios. Academy inclusions, school fees, travel calendar, supervision and home-base services differ. Compare current written quotes line by line and replace every model assumption with the family's actual plan.
