FAQ
What age groups does the junior program serve?
The program is designed for juniors who already compete or are preparing to enter competitive tournaments - not for beginners. Age is less important than competitive stage.
How often does Leonard communicate with parents?
Parents receive structured progress updates every week, covering technical priorities, match performance and next training period objectives. Additional communication is arranged as needed.
Does the program include tournament coaching?
Tournament preparation is included in all performance programs.
On-site tournament coaching is not included as a standard service. It is only considered for selected players when there is a clear performance objective and when the player’s game is ready to be evaluated under real match pressure.
When arranged, tournament support is quoted separately as a premium engagement. The fee reflects not only the tournament days, but also preparation, match observation, post-match analysis, travel time, and time away from reserved Prague training blocks.
For most players, the highest-value structure is:
prepare in Prague → compete → review match video → adapt the next training block
On-site tournament support makes sense only when it adds clear developmental value, not simply as travel accompaniment.
How does the ITF calendar work from Prague?
Prague provides access to 25+ ITF Junior events within a 4-hour radius in the March-June window, including events in Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland.
How do we start?
The junior program begins with a 90-minute performance assessment. Book the assessment - Leonard reviews every booking personally and responds within 48 hours.
What is the best tennis academy in Europe for a junior who needs individual attention?
For a junior who needs individual attention rather than a large group, a boutique, principal-led practice is usually a better fit than a mass academy, because every session is one-to-one with a senior coach. Stakhovsky Tennis in Prague is capped at 10 players with Leonard Stakhovsky on court personally, which is built for exactly this need. Whether it suits a given junior depends on their level and goals, which the assessment establishes first.
What is a good alternative for a junior who plateaued in a large academy?
A junior who has plateaued in a standardized or large-academy environment often needs more individual diagnosis and senior-coach time, with the plan rebuilt around them rather than a group curriculum. Stakhovsky Tennis is structured this way - one-to-one coaching, a 10-player cap, and quarterly written progress updates for parents - so the trade-off is fewer on-site training partners in exchange for undivided coaching. It publishes neutral academy comparisons so families can judge the fit.
How does the junior academy report progress to parents?
Parents receive written progress updates tracking the player's development against the plan set at the assessment, so accountability is documented rather than assumed. This reflects what HNW parents of competitive juniors most often ask for - clear communication and objective evidence of whether training is working.
What age and level is the junior academy for?
It is designed for competitive juniors roughly aged 12-18 at national, ITF, or Tennis Europe level who are pursuing stronger tournament, UTR, or ITF results. It is not a general group school for beginners; entry begins with a 90-minute assessment to confirm the level and set the development plan.

ViewThe research behind this approach
Across elite junior categories, one study found 9% of players already burned out and a further 13% at high risk, and burnout showed up as flat, stalling results long before anyone named it. (Burnout in elite tennis players of different junior categories)
Long-term development guidance is unusually concrete: keep organised tennis near the child’s age in hours per week and no more than about twelve, and cap tournaments at roughly two a month. Training past those limits raises injury and dropout risk without improving peak performance. (Training load and early specialisation in youth tennis)
