There is no single comparable tennis lesson price. Stakhovsky Tennis’s index separates sources and units: PlayYourCourt’s 2026 guide lists private lessons from $65 to $160+ per hour across 20 US metros. Selected London coaches advertise starting rates of £67 to £72 per hour, including courts. In Prague, compare the individual provider rows: court fees, programme terms and playing minutes differ. These are selected observations, not national averages.

How much are private tennis lessons per hour?
The selected metro guide runs from Detroit’s $65 entry point to New York’s $160+ upper guide figure. That does not establish the cheapest or most expensive coach in either city. Ask for a dated quote for your level, venue and format.
How much are tennis lessons for beginners?
The detailed Lessons.com lesson-type table lists beginner private lessons at $65 to $85 per hour. Its overview gives a different beginner range. We retain the detailed table’s value and do not present either as a measured average.

How much does a good tennis coach cost?
Price does not certify teaching quality. CoachField’s January 2026 guide uses these credential labels and indicative bands. They are not fees set by a certification body. The RSPA confirms that USPTA changed its name; the labels below preserve the guide’s wording, not a current certification hierarchy.
| Guide’s coach label | Hourly guide band |
|---|---|
| USPTA Elite Pro / PTR Professional | $90 to $150 |
| USPTA Pro 1 / PTR Instructor | $65 to $100 |
| College player, no formal certification | $50 to $75 |
| Junior coach / assistant | $35 to $55 |
How much do tennis lessons cost in the UK?
The Royal Parks private coaching page supplies a specific London example, not a UK average. Seven tennis profiles advertise starting hourly rates between £67 and £72. Those are starting prices, not a closed £67 to £72 price band. Court hire is included; floodlights and additional players can cost extra.
| Coach | Starting rate | Venue and limit |
|---|---|---|
| Alejandro Carmona | From £72 | Regent’s Park |
| Cynthia Kacamakisz | From £70 | Regent’s Park |
| Julian Zaprinow | From £70 | Regent’s Park and Hyde Park |
| Mark Crowder | From £70 | Hyde Park |

Tennis lesson prices in Europe
These sources cover different services and periods. Groupe Réussite’s French price guide describes its own coaching service. It is not a Paris or France-wide average. The THC Hanau summer 2025 registration document is an explicitly historical, members-only example.
| Source and format | Price | Period and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Groupe Réussite, beginner | €30 to €50 | Undated provider guide; court terms not specified |
| Groupe Réussite, intermediate | €50 to €80 | Same provider guide, not a national estimate |
| Groupe Réussite, advanced | €80 to €150 | Same provider guide, not a national estimate |
| THC Hanau, private training | €50 | 5 May to 27 September 2025; historical, members only |
This edition does not publish unverified marketplace averages for Berlin or Madrid, or an unconfirmed Barcelona academy tariff. A missing verified price is not evidence that a provider is expensive, inexpensive or unavailable.
How much are tennis lessons in Prague?
The price of a coach hour is not always the price of a booked lesson. Tempo separates court hire. Řepy reserves five minutes of an hour booking for changeover. ČLTK’s price belongs to a school programme with an annual membership charge. Solidarita’s displayed autumn example had already ended when this page was published.
| Provider | Price and duration | Court and period |
|---|---|---|
| Tempo | 540 CZK / 60 minutes | Court extra; 2026 tariff |
| Tennis School Hradecká | From 600 CZK / hour | Confirm court and final quote; 2026 tariff |
| Solidarita | 800 CZK / hour | Court included; historical 1 September to 5 October 2026 |
| Tenis Řepy | 850 CZK / 55 playing minutes | Court included; outdoor season 1 March to 31 October 2026 |
| I. ČLTK school | 1,350 CZK / 60 minutes | Court included; 7 September 2026 to 2 April 2027. Annual membership 1,000 CZK extra |
| Stakhovsky Tennis coaching | From 1,600 CZK / 60 minutes | Court extra; publisher’s own service |
| Stakhovsky Tennis assessment | 3,800 CZK / 90 minutes | Court extra; different product, not an hourly lesson |
Solidarita’s winter page uses a coaching fee plus a separate seasonal hall charge. Do not reuse the expired 800 CZK all-in autumn price for a winter booking. Ask every provider to confirm the total for your exact date.

Conversions use the ECB reference rates for 9 October 2026: €1 = $1.1206 = £0.84763 = 24.369 CZK. Values are rounded to whole units. Currency conversion does not remove differences in court fees, access rules or source years.
| Example | Original | Approx. EUR | Approx. USD |

| Royal Parks, Julia Tulajdon / hour | From £67 | From €79 | From $89 |

| Stakhovsky Tennis 90-minute assessment, court extra | 3,800 CZK | €156 | $175 |
What do 10 hours of tennis coaching cost?
Multiply only an hourly fee by ten. A session fee with an unknown duration cannot support this calculation. The examples below assume the same fee for every hour and no package discount. They are arithmetic illustrations, not offers or promises of availability.
| Input | Illustrative coaching total | Still to check |
|---|---|---|
| PlayYourCourt’s $113 reported average | $1,130 | Actual coach quote and court |
| Julia Tulajdon’s £67 starting rate | From £670 | Dates, final rate and floodlights |
| Tempo’s 540 CZK coach rate | 5,400 CZK | Ten hours of court hire |
| Stakhovsky Tennis’s 1,600 CZK starting rate | From 16,000 CZK | Court hire and written programme quote |
For a trip, add accommodation, travel and other non-coaching costs. The academy and camp cost index separates these from training fees.
What drives the price of a tennis lesson?
Compare the coach, venue, date, teaching format and cancellation terms. Check whether the quote includes court hire, equipment or video review. A certification or playing record can help you assess relevant experience, but neither guarantees that a particular lesson suits you.
Private vs semi-private vs group tennis lessons
Private coaching suits a player who wants individual feedback. Semi-private coaching can suit two compatible players or a doubles pair. Group sessions can suit social practice and varied opponents. Confirm the actual group size and drill design. Four players on a court does not mean each receives exactly one quarter of a private lesson’s coaching time.
Are private tennis lessons worth it?
Stakhovsky Tennis’s selection framework starts with a specific goal, a realistic practice plan and a way to review progress. Ask how the coach will measure the change. Do not buy a block solely because its hourly price is lower. Read our comparison of private lessons and structured coaching and our academy versus private coaching guide.
How to get more from every coached hour
Agree what to practise between lessons and when to review it. Record comparable observations, such as rally consistency or first-serve percentage. Our serve-speed guide and tennis levels guide explain measurement limits; a single number is not a complete assessment.

Method and limitations
Stakhovsky Tennis compiled the linked sources and reviewed them on 11 October 2026. This is an editorial source review, not a representative market survey or peer-reviewed study. The 90 downloadable observations preserve original currency, unit, source period, court terms and whether a figure is a starting price. Multiple formats from one guide are not independent market samples.
The source period is separate from our review date. An expired tariff stays historical even when its page is accessible today. Undated provider pages do not establish a guaranteed tariff for future dates. Unverified tariffs and marketplace averages are omitted. Recheck the original source and obtain a written quote before booking.
We distinguish third-party evidence from our own service. No provider is ranked by price or quality. Read the research editorial policy and Stakhovsky Tennis coaching method.

How much does a tennis coach cost per hour?

Are group tennis lessons cheaper than private lessons?
The cited US guide lists lower per-person group session prices than private hourly prices. The units differ, so confirm session duration and group size before calculating savings.
